Let’s talk about Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective

Oh Ghost Trick, you’re a very amazing game.. Created by Shu Takumi of Phoenix Wright Fame has done it again I must say. You play as Sissel a recently deceased spirit who finds out he has “the power of the dead” which allows him to manipulate objects and go 4 minutes before a persons death to alter their fate.
I can’t really say much more because it’s all a mystery from the start of the game which is what makes this game so entertaining, not only that but it has the same humor the Ace Attorney series does which is probably the best thing about it. Funny, captivating, and great story telling there is no reason why you shouldn’t own this game if you have a DS.
I also beat Super Mario 3D Land, I’ll talk about that another day though!

Oh Jet Grind Radio, how I love thee. I remember when I heard about this game it was still called Jet Set Radio, it also was a long wait for it and I was impatient. The first time I played this game was also the first time I ever heard Cibo Matto which if you’re not a dummy you know the female vocalist also helped with Gorillaz first record. So to say the least I was really jazzed about this game, this was also being released around the same time that I was engulfed in a “I only listen to rap and only art I like is graffiti” phase, that has since passed although I’l always have a soft spot for this game…and rap and graffiti.

Ah, this is one game I will never get sick of. I’ve beat it numerous times and am obsessed with doing better and better at it. The last time I played it was about a week ago when I found out I died a total of 11 times which is probably my best play through yet. The first time I played this game I remember it was raining, my family was getting ready to take my sister and I to Sea World, but since it was raining, all I wanted to do was play this game. My parents used to have a picture of me during my first summer out of school and what was I doing? Playing Zelda.. That’s all I did, also doesn’t help that at that time I had zero friends. Yeah I’m sure some of you “faux” nerds know NOTHING about that. Going into the first grade with zero friends only to be made fun of for playing Zelda all summer and continue to not have friends but really!? Popular kids in the first grade? How do they become popular so young? Well whatever this isn’t an angry nerd rant it’s a nostalgic video game rant!
p.s. have you checked out this video yet? Hilarious!!

One of my favorite games and memories of my dad and I playing games. I got this game around the time my dad got his stereo system, so he’d always turn it on while we’d play, sometimes I’d just play in the dark and get so freaked out by what I would hear behind me when it was either one of my parents coming into the living room. I always died when that happened, I’d be too scared to play for a bit then get over it and start again only to be scared again. I was a wuss in the 7th grade but you’ve gotta admit that the atmosphere in the game makes it very easy for a child (which I still was) to be scared. I wonder if this game would still scare me?

I’ve been playing this game a lot with friends lately and it made me think, “Why have I not been playing this more!?” It’s so much fun, almost too much! It’s like the first time I played it all over, except I remembered all the courses and tricks to them. Either way this game is so much fun and I really wish my girlfriend could play with me but, she gets motion sickness very easily, what a dork! <3

I remember every time I’d play this game with friends we thought the guards were saying “hm, mr. box” and not “hm, what’s in the box?”. I think we were right and they were saying Mr. Box, because why would they wonder what’s in the random box on the floor and not the millions piled along the walls? Well whatever, MGS was amazing, I still own this game, the second disc may not play as well but hey, I still own it. What do you expect when I’ve owned the game since it was released? It’s art direction was amazing, I love games that have that really grimy polygonal art direction because it’s all shadowy and makes it seem less incomplete as it may be, if you’re wondering what I’m talking about just look at old footage of Silent Hill, it’s all polygons but with that fog…Art.

Holy crap! I love this game, I have owned it every possible way you can and never get tired of it. If you’ve ever played a Megaman game then you know how hard it is. I hadn’t beat this game until about 2004, I just never had the patients or ninja skills to beat it. I had gotten through Megaman 1 and 2 just put me on pause with the rest of the series. Once I beat this game I had never felt so satisfied about beating a game. This game I feel like is one of my first gaming memories also seeing how I vaguely remember seeing my dad and uncle playing this game, I could have also totally made that up but, that’s what I remember.

If there was one game I could play forever, this might be the one..This game is genius, it’s the best game to come out at the beginning of the 3D over 2D platform and it did it the greatest, not saying there was a problem with others but this honestly was amazing! I remember going into Babages (yeah weird right?) and pre-ordering this with my dad just to get the gold cartridge, it’d become a tradition of my dad and I’s afterward we’d always try to get the gold cartridge (or CD in the case of Wind Waker which was released on my dad’s birthday) One of the most amazing games ever, if you’ve never played. YOU MUST!

Sometimes I feel like I put this up unfairly, it’s at 27 because well…I didn’t play until my friend Brad had suggested it when we were in High School… So by that point it was already pretty old… But to be fair it was re-released on the PSone with Final Fantasy.. Point is my friend Brad introduced me to this game and I just died when I actually got to play it, it’s such a beautiful game for it’s time and in my opinion has one of the best fight layouts of any RPG (..besides a few that make it on this list later) I now own this on DS and still play it as if I’ve never played it before.

Now, I know I’ve mentioned this game one way or another but I can’t help but mention it again. I loved this game so much, I was only in the 4th grade when this game was released when my dad got the game he also received a T-Shirt. I wore that T-Shirt all the time, so much so that I was made fun of for it, but I loved it just too much. I think about this game a lot, I remember the scene with Will (the main character) and the lead female character stranded in the ocean on a small wooden boat, as a child this scene just seemed to lag on and on, but as an adult I’ve realized the amazingness of this scene, you grow to know these two a bit more before you head out on the actual journey you set forth.. It’s amazing detail in a game so forgotten.
